John Zheng.

I'm currently an Undergraduate Student (Sophomore) at Queens College, City University of New York. Some of my hobbies include gaming, rock climbing, playing sports, as well as reading. Let's get to know each other!

To be honest, I've somewhat lost my pathing in my education; I've taken a gap year recently due to financial & family problems / loss, and I wanted to use this as a way to express myself, much more than just a student, but an actual person outside of academics.

Working during the past gap year has been challenging. I think that with having to purely focus on work to stay afloat, it's taught me resilience, mental and physical strength to continue moving forward. I'm currently working on bringing accessibility and community together through some of my efforts!

- Engaged in a team case challenge called Brandstorm, where we had to create a marketing plan for a new product.

Meridian Strategies | Sep '22 — Present

- Led door-to-door outreach efforts for 15+ campaigns, achieving over a 72% win rate for positions for councilmembers, assemblymembers, and presidential candidates.
- Employed persuasive communication techniques to significantly boost community participation and voter engagement, and consistently exceeded outreach targets, resulting in increased voter turnout.

HackCUNY | Sept '24 — Present

- Leading & co-leading logistics & engineering team of 20+ organizers to plan and execute HackCUNY, a hackathon for CUNY students.

- Won 2nd place overall for developing Scoop, a progressive web app that enables students to rideshare with fellow Queens College students at a lower cost compared to other competitors.
- Created UI/UX wireframes via Figma, and developed the frontend of the entire application.
